Thermocouple Connector Answers
Q What are the p.c.b. connectors intended for?
A Direct fitting to printed circuit boards in instrument design and manufacture. Normally of copper, they can be provided in thermocouple material.
Q Do you normally keep all the calibrations in stock?
A Yes, but inevitably stocks of the less popular types are limited.
Q Can connectors be labelled with any name/logo?
A Yes, for larger quantities, by arrangement.
Q If copper can be used at the same point on each leg of a thermocouple can I use Copper connectors on thermocouples?
A Yes but only if both legs are maintained at exactly the same temperature. Not recommended.
Q What are the advantages/disadvantages of the new quickwire range?
A They facilitate rapid wire connection and disconnection, for wires up to a specified wire diameter limit.
Q The new LCF version of the mini in-line socket is lower in price than the familiar F - are there any disadvantages?
A No, the LCF is a new design, and although it has single instead of double contact, is every bit as rugged and reliable as the old F type, which is being withdrawn.
Q For thermocouple cable and connectors, why are there two colours available for the same calibration?
A Since December 1998, the International colour code to IEC 60584-3 should be observed.
Q I need a large quantity of thermocouple connectors quickly - how soon can they be dispatched?
A From stock in most cases.
Q Why should I use actual thermocouple connectors instead of ordinary electrical connectors?
A Labfacility thermocouple connectors use thermocouple alloys, polarized connections and colour coded bodies to guarantee perfect, error-free interconnections.
Q Can I still purchase the old BS/ASTM colour code and why has everything gone over to IEC?
A Labfacility can supply some products to the "old" obsolete BS colour but the current IEC standard is internationally recognised.
Q How do you mount a Thermocouple socket?
A Use a panel mounting connector with a panel, available in a number of sizes.
Q What do I use for Dual Thermocouples?
A Use our Standard Duplex Connector
